Just got done watching live, as NASA downloaded the first images from the Opportunity Rover this morning. It made a successful landing at about midnight tonight EST. They had live coverage as they waited to receive the downloaded images, and it looks out-of-this-world!!

They already have a few of the images up on the website.http://marsrovers.nasa.gov/home/

Another briefing is scheduled for 2am PST, which will be in about 20 mins. This is exciting stuff!!

Also, if anyone is interested, they are covering it on the NASA channel. If you don't get that channel you can also stream it for free off the Mars Rover website. I was having problems with it breaking up though through the internet.

Anyway, enjoy!!

Yeah the pictures are cool, sandy landscape instead of Spirit's rocky landscape. Still all red though, including the sky. Anyone have any thoughts on NASA's supposed "doctoring" of the pictures to make them more red?
