Live in Nashville but will be in Marietta for the next few days. Have several 94-95 Qs and 94-97 Js lined up. Intend on leaving with a new (to me) one at the end of my stay.

Any recommendations on a mech/dealership for a pre-purchase inspection? I see q45tech's name splattered all over the forum but have failed to find where he works in any of the threads. Not looking for charity...will happily pay retail for a detailed inspection from a trustworthy mechanic.

Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

With T3 you must be very specific as to the DEPTH of the inspection you want. Their usual PREBUY inspection is a 45 minute quick and dirty look over with maybe a 5 minute drive on local street for $68...........finds a lot but not everything.A serious examination might take me 2 hours including a 30 minute drive to heat the brakes ..........unfortunately oil pressure and engine compression tests or valve cover removal or transmission pan drop take longer to do so be prepared if you really want to know the systems true condition!

Depends on your standards as used cars are used and almost all for sale will need work.

One thing to keep in mind is T3 doesn't mention shocks unless they are leaking because every tech assumes you know they are TOTALLY worn out after 3-4-5 years, nor bushings unless they rattle or are missing..........a good car is like every other good car of the same year, worn but serviceable to AVERAGE Driver standards.

I you want it to be like new be prepared for a serious list of things needing work............as your list ranges from 6 to almost 10 years old.

You owe it to yourself to go to T3 - the place is the Q Mecca of the USA! It'll be well worth whatever you spend to have your future car inspected.

Just another plug for T3, I've been using them for years and I make a road trip from Birmingham cuase they are simply top notch on the mechanical side.

Don't expect too much in the form of a facility, but the guys who do the work are wonderful.
