Beach Bend Meet; Bowling Green, KY, March 8th
This was by far the largest meet yet for the Kentucky area NICO members! Not only were there the most NICO members in attendance ever for a Kentucky meet, there were many other local car enthusiast there with a great many members from Louisville Streets in attendance. This event was sponsored by Full Spool Performance and had rented out the entire ¼ track at Beach Bend for the entire day. The weather could not have been more perfect, sunny in the lower 70’s with a breeze. NICO had representatives from many states in attendance: Kentucky, Indiana, Iowa, Ohio, South Carolina, Georgia, and Tennessee to just name a few. The weekend for many began on Friday as many members headed to Bowling Green to be there bright and early for Saturday morning. EZCheese15 and Daunttless drove down to Louisville from Cedar Rapids, Iowa on Friday along with repo man, Cold_Zero and Simmsled from Indianapolis. They stayed with palmerwmd that night after he just drove in from Florida with his new 94 Q45t! We visited OneFastStanza Friday evening as he was working on installing new headers for the meet but a stripped O2 sensor prevented him from making the meet because there wasn’t one to be found for an ’02 Sentra Spec-V. Fortunately we were all there to help out nonetheless.
How many NICO Administrators and Moderators does it take to remove an O2 sensor from stock headers? The answer is seven…
Four to hold it down and attempt to budge it: repo man, Cold_Zero, Simmsled and EZCheese15.
One to wonder if all this extra help is really a good idea: OneFastStanza
One to take the pictures: TonyVQ
One to stand there and laugh at everyone: Daunttless.
At any rate it was too bad OneFastStanza couldn’t make it but he met us all at the Louisville pre-meet to video us all leaving. There were over 30 cars caravanning down from Louisville Saturday morning and as you can expect, we were not without law enforcement intervention! Four Louisville Streets members were pulled over by a Kentucky State Trooper just south of Elizabethtown. All were sighted with speeding 90+ and racing on a public interstate. Ouch. It was here that the trip took a “Cannonball Run” feel to it as it was imagined that Kentucky Troopers were on the look out for the many heavily modded cars speeding down I-65, impossible to try to catch us all!!
The day got better and better as everyone arrived and we all were able to get in multiple runs. All of us enjoyed pizza for lunch compliments of Dauntless. The entire day was spent there and some of us enjoyed a nice dinner at Montana Grille after a great day of racing. After that, many of us partied into the wee hours (or as long as we could) at the motel!
It was a great, great time! Everyone is aready looking forward to the next one this summer. Be on the look-out if you want to attend, I am guessing it will be around June!
Here is the "official" list of attendees. I am sure I have missed some so e-mail me if I have and will add your screen name to the list!
