The 2008 Altima does have a MAF sensor, it resides just in front of the throttle body. As for a MAP sensor, I do not know. The MAF sensor is completely oriented towards measurement of airflow while the MAP sensor is oriented toward measuring Manifold Pressure. Similar, but in general two different things.barry_mann wrote:I have a 2008 Altima with the 4 cylinder. Does this vehicle have a MAP Sensor or a MAF Sensor. I thought every vehicle produced after something like 1996 was equipped with MAP sensors but i have a MAF on my vehicle. Do they have both or am i totally backwards on this.
Good question ....Scandinavian Flick wrote:maybe i just dont know any better, maybe im not "in the know". but why are you trying to make the car run leaner?
A standalone EMU going to be your easiest route to control those. The ECU in the new altima coupes is a BEAST. My turbo shop is having a hell of a time wiring in a tunning computer to it.barry_mann wrote:I am in the process of installing an HHO kit. I have seen dramatic changes on my last vehicle, i just bought this one and wanted to do the same thing. The problem is the MAF sensor. Does anyone know if the MAF signal is frequency or by voltage? Or does anyone have a wiring diagram of the MAF sensor? I need to try to develop a system to help control this along with the O2 sensors.
That is what i am doing, going hybrid!!!! hahah, i know what you mean. But, they have alot more of a downside. They are slow, expensive batteries, very high sticker price etc, etc. If i can get pass this tuning issue i should be getting about the same MPG with less maintenace, less cost and a increase in HP. At least that's how it was in my last vehicle.adidas2go wrote:The manifold absolute pressure measurement (MAP) is used to meter fuel. Cars that have mass airflow sensors (MAF), generally dont have a MAP sensor.

If your worried about your fuel consumption that bad, I would go hybrid
i agree if you are not sure where the MAF is, id leave it alone... also the toyota echo has a 1.5 liter 4cylinder,08altima35 wrote:if you go the opposite direction of air flow from your throttle body the first plug you'll come to is the MAF sensor. Dude???? are you sure you want to start messin' with your car when you can't find the MAF sensor. I think you should just enjoy the car for what it is and if gas mileage at a cheap price is really a big issue you could always trade in for a used 3cyl. yota echo and come out way ahead. just my .02centz
