On an R34 RB25DET NEO engine, is the MAP/Boost sensor used for Ignition Timing and Fuel Curve? Or is it there simply to tell the ECU what the boost is so that it can control the boost solenoid and therefore the wastegate.

To put this in other words. If the Boost Sensor is unplugged, will it affect driveablity? My guess is, it wont. But I want to make sure before I do away with it (the sensor and connector).

if its not present it wont trigger the stock boost solenoid...not a key sensor.

Hey Carl, what is the big deal about wiring this engine? Other than a lack of printed information, it appears that it is the same as everything else. I've wired an S15 SR into my S14 and several KA-DE's into S13 and even those two are practically the same as far as systems and what and what not to use. I haven't started the wiring on the RB yet as I have plenty of bigger issues with my supplier and a motor that is all to hell. But like I said, without printed/printable wiring diagrams it will take a lot longer but shouldn't be to hard to figure out.

The RB wiring is not hard, just time consuming to go through two wiring diagrams and figure out where everything connects and how to do it cleanly. Plus, most people have not done significant wiring projects like you have. I barely knew how to solder when I did my swap.

Is the NEO controlled the same was as the S1/S2 boost system where the solenoid steps the boost up from 5psi to 7psi? And yes if the solenoid is not hooked up, the car will be slower since it will be running at 5psi max.

Oh for sure, but if someone wanted to wire up an EBC, he would need to know where the stock boost solenoid wires were.
