lately i've been having issues with a sticky shifter release switch, gas mileage, dimming lights etc. well i got it all fixed by going to walmart and getting a new battery. my shifter switch unlocks the lever easily so i don't have to sit and wiggle it out of park, my throttle response is better and my lights are bright again.

and i found out that i need a new bat by accident. went to a parts store to get 194R-BP's and the car wouldn't start when i was leaving. my alternator was caked with oil from a small but steady leak from the front valve cover gasket so i got a can of degreaser and sprayed it clean, jumped the battery and just hoped i make the 10 block drive to wally. they tested my old bat and said it's dead. why not get a new one at the parts store since i was already there? $10 diference in price and a better warranty.

i knew the bat didn't have much left in it but thought since it starts the car everyday it should be fine...didn't think that the power from the alternator goes through the battery before it goes anywhere - poor mpg due to a weak current from bat to coil.all is good now.

Im thinking this could be part of my issue... Were your lights dim all the time or just when stopped or at idle? Thats when mine dim..

you know whats funny i thought my battery was craping out too cuz i just bought a new one and was starting to think it was the alternator but i switched out my knock sensor (15 work minutes... A record!!!) and it was fine after. Getting a different maf tomorrow and all should be swell. then we can start thinking y pipe and edelbrock dry shot... Oh ya!!!
