I have a 2018 Rogue with 41k miles. At first I thought that these lights just randomly come on, but then I found out that usually they only come on when I floor the car from a stop. Sometimes even if I just step on the gas a bit harder from a stop. Basically what happens is the car stalls and does not accelerate for about a second, then eventually it does. Then the traction control lights comes on, then after about 30 seconds to a minute the front end emergency brake light comes on and in the middle it displays "Malfunction". It has been doing this for a couple months. Then last week after these 2 lights came on, I tried to floor it again(again it stalled for a second) then the check engine light came on too.
I took it to my friend and he plugged in the tool that tells you what the light means and it displayed something about solenoid.
He then went to check the CVT fluid and we found out that there is no dip stick. He tried to use a dip stick from an older year Rogue( I think it was '15 or '16). We don't know if they are the same length, but it was showing that there is no fluid at all. He then poured 1 quart in, and we checked again, and it was showing that there is fluid now. I drove it home that day and floored it again and no issues and no lights. The next day the lights started coming on again.

My question is, do you think it is the CVT fluid, and if so, is there a way to check for sure? Do you know if the dip sticks are the same length for all year Rogues? Also if it is the fluid, do you think I should just have my friend change it since I hate going to the dealer? They always give me a hard time scheduling an appointment and they refuse to do any service on Saturdays even though they are open and they refuse to do any service after 5pm even though they are open until 8pm. This is the reason when my lease expires I am not getting a Nissan anymore.

Orrr do you think I should just keep driving it as it is and hope that it will keep going until March (that's when my lease is up)?

The depths are not the same for all years. If I'm not mistaken the Jatco CVT8 should have a lower fluid level than the CVT7. One way you can actually check if your fluid is at the right level is to remove the overflow drain plug while the engine is running and transmission has already warmed up. Pour some fluid through the fill pipe (where you remove the dipsti-- er cap from) and see if you get some dripping from the overflow hole. You get a trickle after pouring the fluid if it's at the right level. If you remove the plug and fluid comes out even before you pour in the fill pipe, then it's too full and you want to wait for it to come to a drip before closing it up.

Refer to TM-189 on the service manual -- do note this is for the 2016 so specs might've changed.

Not sure if you want to wait until march, since you risk getting stuck along the highway. You should let the dealership know that their customer service sucks though.

Have you had the CVT serviced yet by an actual mechanic? Nissan recommends servicing your CVT every 30,000 miles. If you've not done this, it may explain the issues your having. Your 2nd gen Rogue uses a more compact CVT than what's found on the 1st gens. AFAIK the CVT specs have remained the same for all 2nd gen Rogues.

Nissan's CVT's are notoriously problematic, which is part of the reason why they removed the CVT fluid dipstick. Unless you're extremely familiar with CVT's it's STRONGLY recommended that you let a trained professional work on it. As your car is a 2018 with less than 60k miles, your CVT is still under warranty. Make an appointment with your local Nissan shop and let them figure it out.
