Hi Guys,

I just got myself a S14 (96). The check engine light is on, so I took the car to autozone to have them run a scan on it. The error code I got was: Manufacture controm ignition system or misfire.

Anyone know what this means? The guy at autozone suggested I changed the spark plugs, wires, cap and rotor, so I picked all the parts up when I was there.

I was just curious if anyone else has any suggestions on what may be causing the problem and what I can do to fix it. I plan to do a tune up while trying to fix this, and was hoping some of you guys and girls might have other suggestions on things to change while I am at it.

Thanks in advance!

you really shouldnt get the cheap autozone wires, i had the same problem on my 93 and i changed the plugs with NGK v-power, i got stock Nissan wires from the dealership and the cheap cap and rotor. and while your at Nissan get a stock fuel and oil filter. i dont use the nissan oil filter, i just use K&N (pn-2007). your better off using Nissan wires because of the low insulation and allows better spark and if you hadnt noticed the cheap autozone wires fall apart the first time you yank them out. Nissan and NGK are the better ones. i havent tried any major aftermarket wires but my buddy has NOLOGY hot wires, expensive but insane spark. And you might want to change the PCV valve in your tune up. good luck with your car

Thanks for the info...I'll take the wires back and go get some Nissan ones. I got NGK spark plugs and the cheap rotor and cap (I hope that doesn't make a difference). And I will pick the fuel filter up, too.

Did your check engine light go away after you changed the plugs/cap/rotor/wires out?
