I'm sure some/most of you have seen the thread about how I was trying to obtain a 520/521 parts manual to have it scanned. Negotiations are in the works to make that happen. It's going to be spendy!! Anyway...
I'm putting up this thread to check interest. I'd like to get an idea of how many memebers would be willing to spend approx $20 for a cd that will include the factory 521 manual, the 520/521 parts manual(2.5" thick), the dogleg transmission section from the factory 200sx manual. There might be a couple other things on there...we'll see.
I'm also working with Ken to see if we can work things out to have his factory 320 manual scanned and put on the disc too. Ken said he'd like to make the 320 manual available on his site and that's fine with me. I have an arrangement already for the 521 stuff to be hosted online and downloadable once I've recovered my costs.
So, if all goes well, the CD will have a huge amount of info covering the 320 through the 521 for about $20. You 320 guys will probably have access to the 320 manual for free on this site. Not trying to talk you out of buying the cd, just not looking to "trick" anyone into buying it.
Since the info will be avail online for free at some point, the first 30 or so buyers of the CD will basically be helping to make the info avail to the datsun community. I'm not looking to profit from all this, simply get my money back out of it. HHmmm....since that $20 includes shipping and the cost of the cd, it may be more like 40 people.....I'll have over $400 tied up in doing this........and I already have my manuals, so this is for everyone else!!
I'm going to post this on a couple of forums.....so please only post to one of them. I know a lot of guys have different screen names on different forums, so I don't want to have to figure out the same guy posted 3 different times.
This is simply to get an idea of how many people are willing to spend the $'s for the good of the datsun community. If 100 people come back saying they want one, then I might be able to lower the initial price. I just don't want to pony up all the money and have somebody else copy them and sell them cheaper.....then I get stuck with all the costs!
Thanks.
