Manual vs Electric fan

So, my fan has a crack in it that will need replacement fairly soon. I know a lot of People go for the SHO fan, which would probably free up a couple of horses. That's really not as important to me as staying cool, so my question is...

At what point does the electric fan become inferior to the manual?

As long as it pulls the same cfm, it should be better no matter what, due to not putting any rotational drain on the crank. That being said, any fan that is going to pull 3000+ cfm is going to put a major strain on the car's charging system. (most decent ones are going to pull something along the lines of 30A)

I'd just get a stock replacement. It's not that hard to work around.
