i have been searching around and have only had mixed answers. people say that the 300zx transmission will fit on the vh45de if you change the bellhousing but the transmission doenst look like it has a removable bellhousing. im just wondering if it can be done because i will definatly do the swap if it is possible and find a suitable q45

Kelly,

The swap is possible. You need to manufacture an adapter plate (custom). Then bolt the 300z transmission on, make room for the e-brake and the clutch assembly and your golden (thanks Wes). All in all your talking about a job costing upwards of $3k assuming you do most of the work yourself.

450zxtt will make you an adapter plate for like $500

The clutch master cylinder can be located in one of 2 places.. Either in the drivers wheel well or passengers, depending on if you have TCS, active, or whatever...

The active cooler location (infront of the drivers side wheel well) would probably be the best place for it...

Ive also heard that the shifter position wouldnt be in the right place... just a shift kit should fix that... other than that, its just stuff like making it fit.....

ITs doable, but with enough money, so is everything..... Another member said that they might use a different transmission to modify with a removeable bellhousing and have a custom one made... Since we dont have an easily swappable transmission, you might as well find the one you want (as far as gears and stuff) and then use that..... Dont be stuck on the Z transmission.....

thanks for the info. if i end up doing the swap i would probably get the plate made. i think it would be pretty hard to get it perfect.

i think i am goin to stay with the z32 tt transmission just cause i want to stay nissan but who know when the time comes to swap.
