I'm in the middle of 5 speed swap and I have a couple of questions.

Should I replace these seals and gasket before I install it? I wonder if it's common to replace these when people take out transmission. Sure, I'll replace rear main seal in the engine, but if it's too much trouble to go through replacing them on transmission, I'll leave them alone.

How about Pivot bolt. Should I replace it? Looks like head is worn out a little bit.

Mine is in pretty good shape without any major leak. I was wondering where this leak came from. There's a layer of oil inside like this. I haven't worked with manual transmission before, so any help would be appreciated. Let me know if anything else should be replaced or checked.

The rear seal is an easy thing to replace. The front seal seems to not go bad as often because it's not open to the elements like the rear seal.

9/10 most of the crud you see in the bellhousing is moisture mixing with clutch dust. It creates an annoying sludge that cakes onto the inside of the bellhousing.

But if you're worried about the front seal, now would be the time to replace it. There's no fault in preventative maintenance. You've got easy access to it, and it's not that expensive of a part IIRC.

Thank you. After I saw your reply, I picked up those seals on my way home and replaced them over the weekend. I'll post some pics in 5 speed swap thread.
