nah It's a 350Z's carbon fiber hood. I needed a picture of the hex bit socket, but mine came out blurry, so I used a picture of someone else's hex bit socket on his hood

You can try it and tell us, but from personal experience and research on the net, I've found that redline is more suited for our trannies

I changed to Redline transmission oil today, so far I can't see much of a difference maybe I haven't driven it enough yet. I never had any problems with the conventional oil in it, but I wanted to see if it could be any smoother.

well you notice it most on problematic transmission, but if your transmission was fine then it just will continue to be fine, albeit a tiny bit more smoother.

Nissan's transmission are mostly hit or miss. You got lucky

If you want a DRASTIC improvement, you should get a better shiftknob + the MTF change

I feel a difference now, I think...lol. I was expecting it to feel smoother pushing the shifter into different gears, but it feels smoother at the clutch I don't know if thats what your feeling, I think the placebo effect might be working on me.

old thread, but i used the tutorial to change my tranny fluid today and all i can say is WOW, rev matching is so much smoother. i highly recommend switching if anyone else has thought about it but never got around to it. took me 3 years to finally do it after saying I was going to like 2 years ago. i had my 3 year service and they told me my tranny fluid was dirty so i figured it was the perfect chance to do the change. glad i did.

one thing i'm slightly concerned about the change is that as the guide says, mix in 1 full bottle and 700ml of the other but when i drained my fluid, i put the old fluid into my mixing bottle that i used to mix the MTL fluid and there was definitely more than what i put in, more like 2L or more of fluid. should i have used more MTL mix? is it because i replaced the fluid with synthetic that i don't need as much?

Can't remember exactly what the owner's manual calls for WRT fluid capacities... I'll need to look it up. I need to do this swap too. Just hit 30k miles and I need to do a full fluid check anyway. I had Redline in my Spec V 6MT before and it was awesome - been meaning to do the same in my Altima.

Hey, don't mean to kick dead dog... but Redline now has MT-85 tranny fluid. Can I assume that it is safe to use? (noob)

Yes sir! Just used it in my Z. Altima 6MT calls for the same - it's a proprietary Nissan lubricant grade for their manuals for the most part.

No worries on the kicking dead dog thing - you used the search and found the correct thread. You're doing it right. Carry on!

He did this on a 3.5. Is it any different for the 2.5 ? I have a 2009 2.5 sedan 6MT and need to change the tranny fluid and was thinking about using same method and fluid
