I was working on an auto to manual swap and thought I had all of the parts....

It's apparent that the plate between the block and the transmission is different - the auto. has a 1/2 plate that loops around the starter and a small bottom plate, and the manual looks to have a 360 degree plate that wraps around the flywheel.

My question is if i need to have the manual plate in order to do the swap? The 1/2 plate from the auto. lines up fine, but the bottom plate cannot be reused.

Should i just get the right plate? Is it critical to have the manual one?

thanks in advance,

D

I believe unless you want a hole at the bottom of your transmission then yes you need the 5 speed one. Check the stealership

is it critical? NO, but should you install it? YES. if not the bottom of your flywheel will open to dirt and debris. Just check the local junk yards, you should be able to find one.

You do not deserve a 240 for saying that.

Yes it is critical, unless you want to get dirt and sheet into your throwout bearing.
