manual transmission 1st gear minor problem

My transmission is little weird, I can shift just fine up and down, but sometimes it's little hard to put into first and other times it goes in just fine. It's the same thing no matter if the car is rolling or standing still, it feels like you hit a wall with the shifter meaning it's hard, not soft and it does not grind. Then you try it again and it works. I have about 160,xxx miles on the transmission, I have my own Ideas what it could be, just wanted see what do you guys think?

try bleeding your clutch system. i just replace my clutch master not too long ago. sometime i will not go into gear and sometime it will. sometime it feel like the clutch is slipping. after replacing it drive like a true sr.

That's what I was afraid of, probably would be better if I just pick up a transmission in a junk yard with less miles on it. Would KA24DE transmission fit on to KA24E?

i dont think nissan added a first gear syncro for the 240sx. but thats just what ive heard. and yes ka24de and ka24e trannys are the same

If it had any.......

First gear on most, if not all manual transmissions is not sychronized. What you are experiencing is quite normal. Is your gear oil filled/leaking...clutch line bled? (that's the only things I might check)

About any car manual transmission made after 1970 has syncros on all gears, including first. Some old economy 6 cylinders made in the mid 60's had 3 spds with a non-sychro first gear, but I can't think of any production 5 spds that aren't sychro in all forward gears, most have sychro even on reverse.

240s have a syncro on first. its actualy the 1st/2nd gear syncro.most cars dont have syncros on reverse becouse the reverse has straight cut gears, thats why it whines loud. and no need for a syncro.if you look in the FSM for two seconds youd find this
