I was doing some thinking and was trying to find if there is a manual transmission that will mate to the vq45 in the y34. If there is one that will fit then I wouldn't think that it would be too difficult to make it work. It would be pretty great to be able to bang the gears for yourself in this car. Any one with any ideas?

IIRC, in the US the Y34 only came with the VK45DE.

You may find more discussions of this manner in the VH/VK engine sub-forum

VK45DE is what I meant. Not sure where the 'q' came from.

I came across a thread somewhere that showed the VK45 and VK56 would bolt up to a frontier 6sp transmission. The 6sp used in the frontier is the same used in the 350z and g35. What years fit and everything was in the thread.

Search around I'm sure you'll find it, but good luck getting the electronics to work. The ECU's in these cars use a CAN network which for lack of better explanation means that if you get rid of the transmission TCM then the engine won't run.

A work around would be to use an old Q45 ecu to run the engine but that would be alot of work and it's not just a plug and play which it sounds like you are looking for.

If not and you are a serious DIYer then show us how it's done!!
