Directed has released a new interface called a 689M neutral safety switch. List $99. Enjoy.

many cars don't require it as DEI has already provided a neutral saftey switch input to most of their remote start/security/convenience modules. just find the neutral saftey switch on your transmission and connect this input, then your vehicle will never be capable of starting in gear.

I recommend that Nico members never connect a remote start system in a manual vehicle without using this method. Otherwise you'll be the jack *** on the evening news that injures someone with a vehicle that starts in gear takes off on a joy ride without a pilot, and the doors are locked! I've heard plenty of horror stories from my customers that have attempted this in their own vehicles over the years.

Whats funny is that I've actually seen a goober with a 5slow remote start his car at a gas station while pumping and in gear and it tore the filler and a section of hose off the pump, what a dumbass.

yea its cool if your the type of person that always knows they leave the car in neutral. my friend is like that. one day he let his brother drive it and parked in front of a fast food restaurant, thought he would show off in front of the ladies, then Bam! car hit the sidewalk and almost went through the front door. NEVER drove the car again.

The interface module listed above will prevent the car from starting in gear.

At one of my old jobs, i had a car audio manager that could install remote starts on manual cars. The weird thing about it is this - he was able to to do so that the car could sit in 1st gear like an auto, meaning you could drop the cluth in 1st gear and you wouldnt go anywhere until you gave it gas. He was an awesome installer, he can be a complete d!ck at times though. his name is john lujon. anyone heard of him? he used to own a shop.

Probably a line lock with an electronic release. But that's kinda iffy, who knows what kind of problems that could introduce. I really wouldn't do that.

There are no mechanical devices needed to do a safe manual trans remote start.

Yeah, I question that so I did not comment.
