I just purchased everything for a 5 speed swap on my 240. The only thing I dont have is the yoke that goes on the back of the transmission. My drive shaft did not have it when I bought it and neither did my transmission. My question is can I use the one from auto or are they different? If they are different does anyone know where I can find out and about how much I should have to pay for one? Also is there any other cars that use the same one? All the 240's in the junk yards here are stripped. There is a 200sx that I beleive has the same trans, but I am not sure. I know the shifter is the same because thats where I got my shifter from. If its the same I will go and pull the yoke off that one. Any info would be great.

If its a KA engine then it should work just fine. I'm not 100% positive but the transmissions should all be the same. Just going on the fact that its the same engine with a 5 speed all in the same type of car. Good luck

different from at and mt. you need at least the front half of the manual driveshaft.

I know the drive shaft is different. I have a manual drive shaft. What about the yoke on the back of the trans that the shaft bolts to. Is that part different?

No one has a definant answer to this for me? Can someone tell me if there is a web site that might have the factory dealer style microfiche so I can check the numbers. I called my local dealer here in Charlotte, but they were no help as the car is over 10 years old. The guy didnt even want to try and find the microfiche. I need to know if I need to aquire that peice as that is the only part I am waiting for to do my 5 speed swap. If it is the same as the auto, I will start my swap tomorrow.

I bought a drive shaft online and the end that would into the transmission has a 3 bolt flange on it. No u joint or anything like that. If has a pin that sticks straight out of the center of it like it slides into another peice. I am starting to think they sent me the wrong drive shaft.

hmm the only place with 3 bolts I can think of is where the two halves meet together, but there are three bolts on each half of the driveshaft half...Got a pic?

hud, here's the diagram of the driveshafts: top one is automatic

bottom one w/ that rubber coupling (that you're not suppose to disassemble) is the manual one...

both have a splined shaft @ the end to "slide" right into the back of the transmission...

mebbe you got the wrong driveshaft? but clarify before returning it.

NO mine looks like the bottom one but I am missing the rubber part and the peice that slides into the transmission. Anyone know where I might find one of those?

yeah if you've only got the back half, you got scammed. you need the front half that plugs into the transmission. The back half you can use from your old at driveshaft, unless it's a totally different driveshaft in which case time to get yo money back.

ah that clears it up quite a bit. well that should be replaced if you've an s13 anyway, since it seems like I'm beginning to see more of them pop up as "making a clunk"

Ok the place I got the drive shaft is going to send me the rubber ring and the yoke that slides into the transmission. My question now is, is there anywhere other than the dealer that I can get that rubber ring? I work for auto zone and we dont have anything like that.

dunno I usually just buy stuff from the dealer anyway. You can talk to the guys at http://www.midwaypartsteam.com they're a Nissan parts dept out of AZ with awesome service/prices if it's prices you're worried about.

Ok back to square one. I just got the output yoke from the people I got the dshaft from. They still did not sent the rubber coupler that goes between the yoke and the dshaft.

I went to Nissan today because I was just going to bite the bullet and pay too much just so I can get my car done, and well the dealer can not get that part by itself. The only thing they can do is order a whole new drive shaft.

So now my question is, has anyone ever replaced that peice, and if so how much was it and where did you get it from? I have found very similar (at least in pics) peices for Mercedes and BMW, but dont want to order and find out I cant make it work. Please help me guys.

If no one knows where to get one does anyone have a spare drive shaft around for a reasonable price. Preferable in NC if possible so I dont have to ship it.

No I am looking for the rubber coupler at the front of the drive shaft where it attaches to the transmission. The one that says do not dissasemble in the diagram above from the factory service manual.

Ok no offense but 180fan , it worries me that you are a moderator, because as soon as i read the title I new exactly what he was looking for. But anyways I am sorry to tell you if you can't get just the rubber coupler from nissan, the only way to get it is at a junkyard, or from someone who is parting out their 240 (and there are a lot of them in the classified).

I know I am already working on a used one from someone on the classifieds. I was just trying to find an alternative to that. Didnt know if anyone had found one from another car that may work. I work for a parts store and just ordered in several from different makes of cars. If I find one that works I will let everyone know.

No offense taken, but when you're short on time, one tends to skim through the posts. Work full time, school full time, working on my own projects with moderator duties and yeah I'll skim the posts. If you were around long enough, you'll also realize that most of my posts are made around 3am and after since that's usually when my time frees up for NICO and at 3am, most people aren't gonna be reading over everything with a fine toothed comb. Which is yet another reason why I tell people to include model/year/engine and other details in the title so I don't miss that in the body of the thread. That's just a reminder for someone who hasn't been around all that long.

dam, hud... that 2 piece driveshaft sould came from the aftermarket that way, just like from a nissan dealer... i believe they sent u the incorrect shaft then!!! mebbe they sent u the automatic one...

have another parts store who stock this whole driveshalft assembly to pull it out & compare to the diagram i posted. don't bend over for the nissan stealership for this thing!

OFFTOPIC: true u only get 20% discount? i'm starting to apply to these parts tores as well as local dealerships

I guess I was not clear. I bought the shaft from a junk yard in Ca. They shipped it to me with out that peice. They have since miss placed it. Being used parts they dont want to give me a refund. So I am trying to make the best of what I already have without shelling out the money for another drive shaft.

OFF TOPIC: Yes at auto zone you get 20% discount. Twice a year they give you 30%
