much as i hate to admit it you really shouldn't be afraid of kicking it. kicking is probably the least of your worries and will cause no damage. hammer, on the other hand, will crack the case. don't do that.
make sure the clutch disc is aligned. you can put it on w/o it aligned, but it will take you hours as opposed to minutes. and ALWAYS thread a few longer bolts around the bellhousing to pull it on and tighten slowly, in steps, going around and across. it doesn't matter if a bolt belongs somewhere or not, just use it where necessary as long as the thread size and pitch are the same (on the 240, there are 2 sizes, and the big ones are all the same and the little ones are all the same). then when it's on it would probably keep itself in place without bolts now that the input shaft is in the clutch disc and pilot bearing but it's a good idea to keep a few in there while you get the right bolts to their correct spots.
