I am considering purchasing an '09 Altima Coupe with the 4 cylinder engine. Test-drove a CVT-equipped version, liked it, but I have always liked to shift for myself. Anyone out here have a manual 2.5S Coupe? If so, how do you like it? Is the clutch action good, with take-up not too far off the floor? How does the shifter feel?

Thanks.

I have the 6mt for the 2.5 and i love it. I have no complaints. Everything works nice and smooth. The take up isnt the smallest but its not large by any means. The only suggestion i have is that you gotta pull the ring up to put the car in reverse. i left the dealership and drove 1.5 hours before getting home and needing to back the car up. Haha that was trouble.

Love my 6MT. The short-throw shifter is awesome and really smooth. As stated previously, take up isn't the smallest, but it takes very little getting used to and isn't at all extreme. This is my 4th manual shift car and is by far the best stick I've ever driven. The first time you pass someone in 3rd gear you'll be grinning ear-to-ear and be very happy you got the 6MT.

lol i dont think the stock shifter on the 6mt qualifies as a "short-throw" by any means...

If you're shifting a lot get ready to be shifting like mad. I love my 6mt, and i'm shifting a lot, I shift at about 2k rpm so you can imagine with the extra gear you do some extra shifting.

I can't really compare it to other 5 speed manuals since the only other manual i drove was my '04 sentra spec-v which was also a 6mt.

I love it though, very smooth, no real complaints.

i test drove the 6mt and it was really nice.... but i am used to driving my jeep with the 5mt so there is a big difference.

love the 6mt, cvt is weenie, my wife has the maxi and its great for a cvt but I can't get away from shiftin which is the only reason I haven't gotten a maxima yet...

...only complaint, I do have to get it out of 1st gear more often in traffic, as opposed to when I had my 5mt alti and kept in 1st longer... BUT the short bursts of energy at take off and the response is well worth it...

i love it.

It's a nice transmission, not as smooth as some cars I've driven, but much nicer than any that I've owned. It's taking me some getting used to, but that's just a time issue

Oops! I think I meant "close-ratio" instead of "short throw". It sure shifts a lot shorter than my old Corollas or Sentras though! I love being able to lay my arm on the extendable arm rest and flip through the gears only moving 2 fingers. It's totally effortless in comparison to any other stick I've owned. Smooth as butta!
