manual to automatic transmission...

i done some extensive search, but i'm still trying to figure out. what is needed to change a manual transmission into an automatic for the ka engine. before anyone bashes this post. here's why. i've had exstensive surgeries to my knee and need to change it up. i love my S14 and want to keep it, but i would need to change the transmission in order to. so any help on what parts i need?

you need an s14 auto transmission, and an auto s14 ECU. there is a write up about changing from auto to manual. look through it and you will know what is needed and what is not.

Changing to an auto is a lot harder than changing to a manual. the problem is that the auto needs more wiring. i mean, we're talking chassis harnesses and stuff. The auto control box has no provisions on a manual chassis, so you can't just plug it in and go. Also, the shifter has extra plugs at it to send feedback to the control box.

I think the easiest way to convert to an auto, and this is just brainstorming off the top of my head with no actual experience doing such a swap, would be to source out the chassis harness around the front of the car from a wrecked auto. That way you would get all the plugs for the inhibitor, the ATCU, etc. The only thing you'd be without would be some of the dash wiring for the auto shifter.
