well when people sell their s13/14 driveshafts for manual swapsthey always say " abs" or "non-abs" if im doing a manual conversion for my KA vert. which one do i need an abs 5 speed DSor an non abs 5 speed DS

also this might be a rediculous Q but could a S14 DS work on a S13? or would it simply not work due to a length difference.

THANKS

As far as I know, you need s13 manual drive shaft for your vert. Length is different. Don't know about ABS. I hope it doesn't matter. I bought an s13 manual drive shaft, and I didn't check if it was from ABS or non-ABS car.

For Vert you need S13 manual non-ABS driveshaft.

The ABS shaft is shorter for the ABS sensors/VLSD diff.

If you have a ABS VLSD pumpkin (from Hicas car or regular S13 ABS car) and input shaft you can use a ABS driveshaft.

You CANNOT use a 14 driveshaft on a 13.

the carrier's bearings on the 13's are on the front, while the 14's are on the rear. not to mention the length difference.

Ask me how I know... go ahead, ask

Can't you just swap the front half of the driveshaft with your old driveshaft???? That's what I'd try first.

I think you're correct on the S13's, as that's where the carrier bearing is attached, so I doubt there would be a difference between the ABS and non-abs driveshafts.

as for the definitive answer to the S13/14 driveshaft compatibility, here are 2 pics:

This is the S13 Driveshaft. Front of the car is on the right. Notice the carrier bearing location is on the FRONT half.

now, this is an S14 Driveshaft. Front is also on the right. Notice the carrier is on the REAR shaft.

I tried, god I tried, to get it to work, but there are no possible combination to make it.

correct.

you only need the front half of a manual s13 shaft, and you can use your rear half.
