i eventually want to find a manual rack for my car, i dont want to spend a fortune on a custom one. which is the only lead i have. does anyone know if a manual rack from an older 200sx or something can fit?? if the ratio is close and the size is relatively close, with a good alignment it should work. im more worried about the mounting locations and size. but any info that will help is great.

I've heard a rumor that JDM s13's had manual racks offered as an option... Maybe try looking into that...

From this thread:zer...d-s14

So anyways for the people that mention RHD racks why not just buy a stock one? ITd be way cheaper...
BTW, that guy owned a JDM Y33. So, he might know what he's talking about...

remove the belt, see if you like it.if you dont mind man-handleing the steering wheel, go for it.if you are a child stop now and forget the idea.i tried to find a manual rack for mine but it just wasnt worth the effort, i also drove my s13 with no power steering lines/pump anything for over a year, its not a big deal and its not hard to park etc. like everyone says.i do have ps now though, got lines for 10 bucks and cleaned up my old pump so why not...i will say this after going without it and now having it again, it feels effortless. nice.

ya i know the custom rack is 500 or so. and as for the s12 i read the parts list wrong... it really said w/ powersteering...... i read w/o, somehow

i might just do that miatia depower.....hmmmm"and also i like to add that i really hate any and all forms of drivers "assist", with the execption of a few here and there, those driver assist things on cars makes me feel that drivers can drive worse and be a bad driver, and never get better.like the new infinity??? system that acutally applys brakes to certian wheels to keep you in the lane....

put someone that drives that normally into a car w/o abs or anything like that and put them in a foot of snow and i think they will change their habits... hopefully anyways.

sorry for my tiraid... almost got rear ended twice today got flipped off once by one of the chicks that almost rear ended me and another dude pulled half way in to a highway lane, completly stopped from a merge lane

and no... its not my driving. just to let you know. if you want me to explain each situation i can.

and also those are not entirely the reasons why i want to lose the p/s.

and thanks a ton simmode1 that helped.

p/s is good if you have a street car

i dont get why you wouldn't want it unless its extremely difficult to run with your engine choice (old motor that didnt offer P/S)

the s13 isn't light, the "assist" makes it far more practical for everyday use
