we all know the high pressure line on the power steering goes bad and leaks alot. and there about $80+ to replace them. I want to know if anyone here knows of a manual steering rack that would mount to a s13 with minimal to no fabrication work needed. according to my friend a honda freak he say's the manual would also give more angle to something down there in the steering. sorry I cant remamber what he called it.

in the future I plan on making the only nissan 240SupraX in my area with a straight 6 2jz supra motor with a 5 or 6 speed manual tran.

but for now I'm just upgrading to a ka24de and 5 manual.

You can just take off the power steering pump off, and connect the two sides of the steering rack together. Manual steering is not fun, I can't imagine why a manual rack would be better. There is lots of info on here about engine swaps and transmission swaps.

i manual steering rack is designed to be run manual taking a power steering rack and just looping the line is harder to turn then a manual rack i have been researching this for awhile and i found that a ef hatch manual rack is the same length from otter tie rod to otter tie rod however they use alot short tie rods which means as ur suspension flexs up and down the tie rods will move at a different arc than your lower control arm causing bad bump steer

Why dont you just keep the stock rack, undo the lines, spin the wheel lock to lock and cap off the holes? there you go manual steering...no modifications needed...

searching once yielded me a thread about this, i think the OP was trying to get a group buy for actual custom Rack and pinion manula steering racks... supposedly offering more angle.

im going to bed, ill check back here tomorrow and see if i can find that thread.

You just can't take off the PS pump. The pump runs in line water pump. So, if you take it off, no water pump.

You would need to use a power steering delete kit, or make one. I already done this, but my setup isn't in a 240sx. So I have no answers for the rack question. The kit moves the alternator, so it runs in line with the water pump, but then you would need the thermostat housing from a KA24"E" if you are doing this to a KA24DE, because the belt will rub on the housing if you don't.
