New to Nico.......Loving my new Versa, for the most part. Not happy, tho, with the shift knob on my manual transmission. Tried replacing with a cool knob from AutoZone, but it wouldn't accommodate the collar used to activate the reverse gear, which slides up INTO the knob. Ideas?

truthfully you guys should try search first , i talked about shift knob before, and which one works. so that you guys don't have to run into this problem after buying a knob that doesn't work.

A) Trash your shift knob, if you want to keep the stock one intact.

and

B) know which knob to get.

First off the question of the thread. There is no way it will work at ALL. unless you keep the knob at the very top of the shifter, then i think the knob look like pure ***. that just my take on it. Like i mention in the other thread. The following shifter work for sure:Sparco Globe X. ( the one i am using)Sparco Fast R.Momo Race Evo w/ Reverse up.Razo GT advance (Very similar to stock, but it doesn't look as good.)these shift knob are built with space between the knob and the shaft.

Now for the second question, i didn't figure out how to remove it, so maybe the topic started could say if he kept his originally in tact. i basically end up taking a die grinder, and hacking away the knob because i had already burnt it.

WELLLL actually i have to disagree with you on that statement about if its too high up it looks bad.I got the red racing one from sparco. its the exact same one that as was used at buttenwillow(Sp?) on that five axis versa.theres like a slight raise from the lock release thing, but its aight. me likes that better than a huge ball knob.
