I plan on buying a 2005 G35 and putting 20" rims on it. I heard it is better to have a manual if you are modifying the wheel size..... Is this true?

I can't see why it would matter. The important issue is picking lower profile tires so that the revolutions per mile stay about the same.

I have the sedan with the manual and it is fun. Fun to pull up to some one and rev it and they go thats a manual!

If you can find a manual buy it. Their arn't many that are locally used. I know when i bought mine it happend to be like 1 mile from my house. But the next closest 6mt sedan was in miami and i live in tampa. So it worked out great!

I bought mine cash for 20k with 13k miles... I got a really good deal. And when you go to buy one, beat them up on the price becasue it is a manual and there really isn't a market for a manual luxury sedans!

The decision to go auto or manual is purely up to you and your driving style. Wheel sizes will not make any difference.

That has myth all over it, not one I've ever heard but that's definitely a myth. The decision is yours. The benefits of a MT is the pure driving experience, the extra gear, and more horsepower. The benefits of an AT is quicker shifts, the option to go "manual", and more torque. Two of the main reasons why an AT can beat a MT is because of the quicker shifts and they have more torque available. A man once said, "Horsepower sells cars but torque wins races."

The MT is more fun to drive for sure and it should beat a AT around a road course but drag racing the AT should win everytime.

The "manual" shifting in the Auto is not really shifting...You're simply allowing the computer to shift. Now the manual auto shifting on the GT-R, that's different!

I don't know what kind of driving your 65 miles are but my 60 miles is crawling on a freeway going about 20 mph max for most of it.

Take a look at this web site some morning if you want to see how bad Phoenix traffic SUCKS

http://www.az511.com/CameraImages/index.php

And don't leave a car length between you and the car in front of you cause some jerk in a landscaping truck towing a trailer full of lawn mowers with 16 people in the single cab will try to cut into your lane that is not moving from his lane that is not moving and then slam on his brakes.

I usually just put in a CD (which I will get to listen to the entire CD at least once) drink a water and try to relax. There is nothing I can do to make my 22.5 mile to work commute go by any faster then an hour.

But enjoy your stick, my 3rd car the 1965 CJ-5 Jeep with a 327 from a Chevelle in it has a 4spd stick. I would never drive it in this traffic.

Mine is accually the same.. I drive from Down town St. Petersburg to down town Tampa. It is a 20 min trip without traffic but it is at least 45min with traffic. I cross a 7 mile bridge. God forbid if anything happens on the bridge. I have sat in the car parked for 3 hrs not even moving one inch.

It is still a choice that each first owner makes... that is why we have both Manual and Auto.

You have to give and take... Pleasure vs convience...

You have to say what kind of driving do you do. A lot of highway... well go for the manual better MPG A lot of City.... Go for the auto more convience

I know i love my manual but best of luck to you in finding your G. What ever way you go go with the trans... they are all great cars.

people who buy automatics are just comphensating for their lack of driving skill.

(my opinion, but feel free to bash me if you like.)

I have a friend who cant drive manual worth a **** he lurches gears sometimes making the clutch bite hard sometimes usually resulting in either a bog down (possibly stalling) or a chirp of the tires associated with minor whiplash..

you can have much more precise control in a manual, however the real point i wanna say is

Its not all about the car, If the driver cant harness the cars potential and use it efficiently then it doesnt matter at all.

The manual shifts in the auto are very slow from the factory for some reason.

only girls drive automatics . . .

and men who spend money to buy a performance vehicle, only to get an automatic . . . geesh.

my friend bought a brand new BMW M3 a few years ago, and i nearly died when i saw it was an automatic.

The manual is more fun to drive, but it was almost impossible to find a used G35 coupe in a manual so I broke down and bought an auto. A month later the dealer gets in an 05 with a manual

On a side note....I found plenty of 350Z with manuals....why didn't Infiniti make more G's with the manual?

And girly-men!

I'm SO glad my wife prefers the manual transmission! I guess I'm just from the old school, sports cars were ALWAYS manual.

That is simple. When you buy a new car you pick manual or auto. The new G owner 70% of them buy auto. As you are a second hand buyer your option is limited to buy whatever the first owners bought. Play it simple you want a stick buy a new one and they make it for you or wait till you find a stick. 350z is for fun not for daily drive that's the reason you can buy manual from second hand because most first owners getting manual.

When we were car shopping I was really shocked at how few cars are made with the the manual, & how few models on the lot which had the option of the manual were available in stock

Because most of the new car buyers(Infiniti) looking to get auto not standard. They don't want to be stock with it later.

My previous vehicle was a 92 Lexus ES300 5 speed manual.I got a great deal on it because most Lexus buyers want an automatic.I thought it was the greatest stick shift vehicle until I bought my G
