I purchased a 2004 Nissan Maxima SE with automatic transmission/manual mode.I tried out the manual mode today for the first time on a stretch of a parkway and I don't see a difference from the car being in drive.Does anybody use the manual mode and do you really care for it?

I'm sure there is a little difference between the Maxima's transaxle and the G35's transmission. However, In my G I notice a big difference. It lets me shift the car when I want to. It doesn't shift the car up if I want to hold it at 3500 RPM. That I like.

I use manual mode a lot--almost exclusively, in fact.

You won't see much difference on a stretch of parkway. Play with it around town, and you'll see what the difference is. Manual mode will not shift UP unless you tell it to. It will shift DOWN of it's own accord to prevent bogging, though.

Depends on how you use it.
