i usually put my car in manual mode and downshift to help slow down without using the brakes and also so i can hear my exhaust

well the other night the car wouldnt go in manual mode! the stick could go back and forth to manual mode and "D" but the car wouldnt recognize it. so i turned off the car and started it again and it worked.... then it stopped working again today in front of the dealership (i live up the street from the dealership) so i stopped by and showed them the issue. they said $115 and if they find out its some defective part it'll be free.... has anyone else had this issue?

Did the car not recognize it fully or did it just not show what "gear" you were in ???

it didnt recognize it at all... it just said "D" and i'd try to downshift but it would never downshift and it just said "D" the whole the time..............

i feel like an idiot because i didnt know that when i made the thread that the little smile face would show up in the title instead of the body....

Why the hell would the dealer charge you $115 if your car is under warranty. Isn't it dude? That sounds like a factory issue and should be covered under warranty.

ya same here.... its just that i remember my dad had an F150 a while back and had a small issue with it while it was under warranty and never took it in. after the warranty expired the truck got hella worse and screwed up on him. so i'm kind of like, if i'm having any issues at all, i need to get them fixed before the warranty expires....

ya i only have 26,885 miles or something like that.... and the car is a little over 2 years old.... after 12k miles they started trying to say that they charge like $115 to check it out and if it is a factory defect they dont charge but if they find it was caused by me then they do charge.... seems like BS to me but idk...

The only problem I've had in manual mode is if I'm in 1st gear and I take off hard with the TCS off. Sometimes it won't shift out of 1st. Anyone else experience this?

Your dealer is full of BS wanting to charge you.

I had this problem this past Friday night driving from Houston to Dallas, but that was just the beginning:1st I'll admit, I was rolling pretty fast 80-85 and 90 at some points, with the car in shift mode, switching between 5 and 6 occasionally to accelerate. After driving for a while, it won't let me downshift from 6 at all anymore. Okay, so I just put it in D. Works fine for about 15 minutes maybe.

2nd After 10-15 minutes of driving in D, it all of a sudden won't let me rev any higher than about 3500 rpm. so now I'm really like but we're still like an hour away and its midnight so I wasn't tryna stop on a dark highway.

3rd Finally, to top it all off, another 10-15 later the car basically refuses to give me any excess power. Sorry if I can't explain properly, but it was odd, never heard of this b4: It would only give me enough power to maintain speed, i.e. if I was going 75, it'll let me stay at 75, but if I slow down to 65, now it'll only let me maintain 65. Now I'm really life WTF, okay, as long as it doesn't stop on me.That's when the car started slowing down. I was forced to pull off and do my best to make my way over to a gas station. Before the gas station, I had to come to a stop sign. In this condition, from stop, it was weird... When I pressed the gas, the engine revved, but there was little to no power to the wheels. I stopped and let the transmission (cuz I'm assuming thats what it was) cool off for about 20 min. From there, the last 30-45 min of driving was fine I guess, but i didn't go over 70 for fear of it stopping again.

All in all, I'm now HIGHLY pissed with Nissan and myself for making this CVT decision . Best believe that as soon as my schedule permits my car will be in a Nissan garage being checked over. I don't feel like there's any good reason a 13 month old car should be having this type of problem. I've got 33,800 (roughly) so I'm glad this happened now and not a few thousand miles later...

Hey, I remembered about someone with a turbo having a custom made CVT-cooling system, I wonder if that's the problem, it needs a better cooling solution.

Yeah that happened to me in the beginning of the year. I remember getting in the car, pushing the button to start and as soon as it started, I put in reverse and then into manual mode. I was pushing on the shifter to change gear but I remember hearing the motor and it didn't sound right. When I looked down at the gauge, it was on "D" and I was like So I pulled over, stopped and started the car a couple of times and like after the 2nd time it finally went into "1"

That was addidas2go and his issues has nothing to do with what this thread is all about. His issue was the the turbo made additional heat on the CVT that it burned out a sensor.

i've been lagging on cleaning the corotion (sp?) on my battery and it got hella bad! have been planning on doing it the past few days but just been busy.... thing is though, ive had bad battery corotion (sp?) before and this never happen. also, when this happens it's very unpredictable, just randomly happens. so its hard to know what has an affect on it.

i showed the girl at the dealership and she saw it not wanting to go into manual mode and i told her it doesnt always happen and if i turn off the car and then turn it back on, it wont have the issue. so i told her what if they can't "duplicate" the problem because we've both seen it but its random so they might not. she said if they can't duplicate the problem then there is no charge...

how was your battery or how is your battery since this just happen to you the other day?

the loss of power thing, i got that 1 time about a year ago. the car didnt want to move, i had to floor it for the car to go like 5-10 mph... stopped at a red light and when it turned green the car drove off like normal and i never had that issue again.
