New to the forum and I'm driving a 2009 Versa with a manual 6 speed. My question concerns the transmission. When I depress the clutch to shift the revs stay high, only dropping slightly by the time I get it into the next gear. Is this normal for this car? Feels odd to me. My other manuals are not like this; revs falling while you shift, then increasing as you put your foot into it. Thanks for any advice.

Now im only thinking of the top of my head but, i think this car has a short gear ratio and personally the car would of been better a 5 spd but i cant complain for the 6. its just that the top speed on these things are 120? and to divide that into six gears is pushin it if you ask me.

I agree TSV07. You sure do end up stirring that gearbox a lot. Do you find the revs stay high between shifts, or is that just me? In my other manual car (73 TR6) the revs drop off between shifts. I find it strange that (for example) when I shift into 2nd, or whatever, the revs are where I left them after shifting from 1st-maybe 3000 rpm? Do you find the same? I'm just trying to determine if this is normal for a Versa. Thanks.

I drove a newer Focus that did the same thing, and my V does too, but not as pronounced as the Focus.
My mechanic says they do that on purpose to keep emissions down.
I assume this burns fuel not instantaneously stopped when gas pedal is released.
I also assume this could be done intentionally with or without an actual throttle cable.

So shift quicker! I mean...more efficiently!
