hello I'm doing an auto to manual swap in my s13 and I was mocking up the manual driveshaft with the transmission. I was wondering why only 3 bolts/nuts bolt to the output shaft. however there are 6 holes altogether. what am I missing here?

I mean as your bolting the ds up to the transmission there are 3 bolts that hold it to the trans right? but there are 6 holes on the ds

no bolts hold the Driveshaft to the trans. Are you sure you are working on a 240sx?

I was thinking the same thing, there is just a spline on the transmission side, unless hes talking about the coupler on the two piece ds.

You or somebody else did this wrong.
No need to disassemble the DS, which is what you did. the piece in the transmission that's SUPPOSED to be a part of the DS, slides right out.

bolt it back together and pull it out as one piece.

its hard explaining this because this is common knowledge. DS are not Taken apart to be taken out or put in.

Have you worked on a car before?

you still didn't answer my question, even if i bolt it up like you say there will still be 3 extra holes, that's how i got the ds and trans

Looks like you removed half of the auto driveshaft. And then used the rear half of the manual driveshaft. Use the other half of the MANUAL driveshaft and then insert THAT into the transmission.

the upper corner pic is the MT drive shaft, their is supposed to be a large rubber coupler there. you have two different drive shafts or your missing some parts.

your DS should look like THIS, there are 3 bolts that go through the piece on the transmission and the rubber bearing thing. a nut goes on the other end of the 3.
PUT IT ALL BACK TOGETHER AND PUT IT IN THE TRANSMISSION.

The DriveShaft ISN'T supposed to be taken apart to be removed.
It all stays in ONE PIECE to be removed and Installed
i don know how to make this any easiser

in fact their is a note in the FSM to not take the coupler apart, so im not even sure what the torque specs are on the bolts.
