I just bought a 2011 2.5 S coupe with the manual air conditioner. Is it possible to go from the manual to automatic without a lot of difficulty?

Doubtful. I imagine quite a bit of electronics would need to be swapped, temp gauges installed, trim pieces switched (its a different shape) etc. etc. etc. Im not saying its not doable, but its not doable without a lot of difficulty.

Would likely be very expensive, as you'll have to purchase the entire center stack assembly from Nissan. Even then, it's possible that the Altima in your configuration will not have been pre-wired to just "plug and play" that portion.

Unless there is some kind of aftermarket option, I believe you are confined to what you have.

And finally, Welcome to NICO!

Thanks for the info. I was afraid it would be more difficult than just swapping the controls out. Thanks again.

Actually, I think it might work. Plug and play pretty much. From the pics I think it should work. I think you might gain the dual climate control but not the auto.. You will be missing a couple of parts. I might volunteer to be a guinea pig for this one..

^No way. The harness looks the same 10 pin, 20 pin, 10 pin, but then you have to somehow get the sensors mounted and then also integrated into the harness. If its prewired for the sensors maybe but I doubt thats the case. I also cant imagine that the console controls are the entire brains of the whole thing, there has to be something else that regulates when it turns on and off.

Give it a shot but I dont think you are going to get results.

It wont work. You're ac unit is only functional for one control. You would most likely need dual compressors in which, if thats the case, get a rental car because if you're unexperienced then its either gonna take you a very long time to do this or you'll wind up screwing it up and having to bring it to the shop.

This guy was told it was a plug n play, but soon found it he needed a part, which was a the sunload sensor.

This video is to give you some sort of an idea of what is needed. Considering this is an S13, I wouldn't be surprised if that added for wires or crap years later for our digital climate controls.
