I have been involved in a discussion surronding a particular type of manifold on a CA18DET as seen in the below picture.

It is seen on the early model rear wheel drives that has no intercoler and the pipe runs straight over the coil pack cover to the turbo and there is no intercooler.

It is a belief that the twin outlet pipes on this manifold provides more low down torque?

Is this a myth or can anyone confirm this?

im almost certain the extra torque would come from the long runners it uses.
