well, i have a new intercooler: Precision 750hp rated blah blah intercooler i got from Ivan at PhatKA-T.com (31" x 10.5" x 3.5").

so i knew i would have to cut bumper support out to fit that biatch. so why i had the cutting tools out (cutting blades, die grinder, dremel, etc) i figured i would cut my bumper to have a lil more airflow to the intercooler. Rick (95_240sx) is the first person ive seen do it like his, so I figured I would try it out.

well i cut it and noticed the gaps left so i decide i would make some patterns to fill it with aluminum sheet metal.

well this is what came out of it (disregard the f'ed up hood and non-body color fender lol-thats another story; car needs hood and paint!):

Not bad at all dude! That looks like a freaking monster IC in there... any pics of what else you had to cut to fit it in?

here's a pic of what it looks like before my custom plates:

and here's a hot chick driving the hell out of a Ferrari (random yes i know lol):

i had to cut the bumper suport (big metal piece going across) to make the intercooler fit up top. the intercooler also required no welding since i used heavy duty 90 deg. brackets which bolt onto the left over bumper support bar on one side of the bracket and bolts up to the casted bung on Precision intercooler end tank on both ends. the custom plates definitely make it worthwile.

thanks.

ya, the key to this mod is making sure the cut if perfectly straight so it doesnt look ghetto.

i suggest making the line with wax pencil, and then making the cuts with dremel tool on the bumper riding the edge of the line, and then sanding down uneven spots if there are any.

structure doesnt have to use a dremel or a die grinder for a project like this.....his muscles can cut glass

Lovin it bro...great job with the sheet metal, I'm totally stealing that idea. I was debating already, I'm glad you tried it.
