hopefully for everyone's sake it's just my car. I'm changing my front rotors and pads today, and my goodness these 22mm bolts holding inner caliper piece are ON THERE. I have managed to get 3 off, but had to call in air support on the 4th.

Anyone planning on doing this, make sure you have a breaker bar. I broke mine and REALLY wish I had it right now. Just recuperating from another attempt on the 4th right now...keyboard is all greasy, dammit.

Sounds like there's thread locker on those. I like to use a small sledge hammer for "shock value."

Cheap tools are great arent they (unless of course you had craftsman or snap-on and you just out-muscled it)

I remember when i did the brakes on a G35... it was hell to get those bolts off, mainly because it was nearly imposisble to get a breaker bar in the wheel well.

Good old breaker bar, job was done in 5 seconds to 2 hours of struggling with the damn cheapo ratchet.

Working on cars is such hell with the wrong tools, and so god damned rewarding with the right ones. Can't wait to get my garage in order, just bought a new house 6 months ago.

In my tool box (bus sized roll-away) there are four favorite tools of all times. Sparky (electric grinder), Betsy (approx 15lbs dead-blow) Stryker(Air Chisel with bunch of different adapters to get the JOB done) and Twisty (3/4 inch HD air impact gun). Along with 2 breaker bars (shortes is 30 inches) I can tame the most stubborn bolt/nut combo in the world. If you want to have real fun , try removing E/F series Ford truck front caliper support bracket ...Cheers!

When I bought my Q and began the transformation to a DIY'er I thought I had all the right hand tools until the first time I tried to remove the brake caliper. I found out real quick that I needed a 1/2" drive ratchet, socket set, extensions and breaker bar for the big stuff, and a 1/4" set for the small stuff. These should be in everyone's tool box.

Happy Father's Day to all the Dads out there.
