Anyone else in the north east getting pummeled?

We got ~18" here between yesterday and today. North of us in Maine and further up in NH got even more.

Cool, thats a good start to the morning.

Pissed off that she couldn't find anywhere to pop a squat.

So I started digging out. Shes packing the snow down and bouncing like a rabbit to get around.

Not a snow drift. She's a big husky dog and still had trouble.

Image
I cleared an area for her to wander and evacuate her system. Note the artful beveled and sloped edges to keep her lead from getting caught when the snow inevitably freezes and becomes ice. Lessens my chances of having to unhook her from it in the cold later on.

f***. I hate shoveling. Time for some bourbon.

Damn, that's some snow! This is exactly why my wife moved from Wisconsin. That and she's in the minority of people who don't like to play in the stuff. How long did you shovel for and why didn't you have the bourbon before you started? :)

I like playing in the stuff, but the shovel work always comes before getting to go ski.
All in, it was ~4 hours of shoveling then back out to touch up after more snow and wind came in.

I would've and normally like to have a little something before going out, but at that point, it was assumed I'd be going into the office. Around 1pm, it was apparent that wasn't going to happen and I cracked that bottle open.

Yeah, I do not miss shoveling.
No one was around to just plow you out, eh?

Yep, you got clobbered. we got about 5" of heavy snow from that storm, but it melted quickly and now it's in the mid 60's. I don't seem to mind global warming here in Philly.

That's what happened every weekend for the past 2 months here. I got so sick of having to run the snowblower every day that half my driveway just turned into a mountain of snow. My mailbox almost disappeared into the snow. Then about 2 weeks ago it got very warm very fast and one day I went to work with a foot of snow on the front lawn, and came home to bare grass. I have no idea where all the runoff went; I'm just glad it didn't end up flooding basements. A lot of places an hour or so north of me did flood pretty bad, I guess (more hilly areas) but I don't know how I escaped it; I'm about as low as you can get in the valley (right on the lake).

Fat keeps ya warm and treats are good. My wife feeds me lots of treats, but the fat part isn't working for me. I like playing in snow. There's a chance we'll go mid-west in our later years. I'm hoping the cold will slow the aging process and promote the warming process (bourbon)!
