Yeah, I have a complete motorset on my kitchen floor...

Oh, did I mention I live in a 3rd floor apartment?

I am picking up an engine stand from my friend tonight and the block starts to come apart. There is some slight scoring on the #4 cylinder wall, I've been told by several people that its so minimal that a good hone might do the job. Doesn't really matter to me. If it needs to be bored, then its CA19 time!

Well, its not a wood floor. Its cheap 'wood pattern' linoleum. But I did make a nice gash in it when the block tipped over and the motor mount attachment hit the floor. Also, no, its not being assembled up here. I am going to pull apart the short block and then bring the bare block to have it honed and resurfaced. Then I am going to have the crank checked to make sure it's not out of round or anything. Get an align bore done as well possibly. Then I will reassemble it with new piston rings and main bearings.

I am taking the head to be checked out for flatness, cleaned, and possibly resurfaced if need be. While I am at it, I am going to have the valve stem seals replaced.

Once it's all done, I am going to bring all the components to my friend's storage place where the motor will be fully assembled and be prepped to be dropped in. How long it actually takes me to get all this **** done, who knows. But it WILL be done within 2 months no matter what I have to do.

LOL....

Oil cooler??? I didn't get an oil cooler...

I got the engine on the stand today. Now I just need to remove that damned crank sprocket. I don't really care if I mess up the oil pump as I am getting a new one anyway. At least it's off the floor now though and I can move it around a little easier.

Yes, yes you did. Look on the intake side of the block, where the oil filter mount is. See the piping joining to the heater/coolant hoses? Water cooled oil cooler.

Having said that, the top of that cooler looks totally different from the UK spec one I have.. but at least you can hook it up correctly, I had to do all kinds of ghetto plumbing, since the non oil cooler blocks don't have the water pipe w/ built in T for it and the gizmo at the back of the block to go to the heater doesn't have a 2nd outlet for the cooler either.

Wow, I thought they all came like that. Guess I was wrong. Strange they would make a turbo motor without some type of oil cooler whether it be air-to-air or heat exchange unit like this one. Sure does make for a ****load of plumbing under the intake manifold though.

All European models got em, and the automatic JDM ones did too, but not the manual ones.

I've got that oil cooler too. just be careful, and before you put the engine together, diffinitely repace that hose.. cause the way to get it out is with the engine out.. been through it before

goodluck tiger.
