This Maxima is killing me. Ever since I went to 40-series tires, I have had nothing but problems. Two Sumitomo's blew and now this:

Yes, that is a fukkin BOLT!

Holy crap Matt, that's hideous! I've been looking at tires myself, lately. So far I'm leaning towards BF Goodrich Traction T/A's (high performance all-season).

Yeah, that's like a 1/2"+ bolt!

At least it held air until I got home. Gonna have to deal with it Saturday I guess...

Oh that blows. I've had the bolt treatment at least twice if not three times. Such a *****.

The latest trend has been sheetmetal screws looking like they've been drilled into my tires.

Yeah. Sux...

I had a decision to make. Replace two tires for <$400 or replace all four for about $900 (Pilot Sport A/S). I had planned on getting these tires to last most of this year, then swap back to my 17's. At this time, it was cheaper to go the two tire route since my back tires look great still and have tons of tread. So, I'm going to swap out the bent 18" rim since I have a spare and will keep these for as long as possible (Sorry Steve)...

I ordered a couple from TireRack for $388 shipped. Local, they were $254ea + tax and mounting.

Ha! I love TireRack. I haven't bought tires in a store for years.

Mmmmmm... I love that pic!

There's something irresistable about brand new tires... can't describe it - maybe I'm just weird.

+1 for good deals from TireRack.

Yessir. This is my 4th or 5th order from them.

I'm kinda pissed tho. I went out to put my donut on and the damn tire shop did not use a torque wrench to tighten the lug nuts. I can't get the damn flat tire off!!!

Oh well. Hopefully my can of "fix-a-flat" will give me enough air to get to the tire store

Well, this turned into a joke....

Fix-a-flat would not do a damn thing. So, I borrowed a vehicle and went to the store. I picked up a 12v tire pump (300psi for $9.99 - lol ), a tire fill-tool for my compressor, and a medium-sized 4-way lug tool (they did not have any large ones).

12v tire pump didn't do crap. Guess the bead was broken. No reason to try my big compressor, so I used the lug tool to get the lugs off. I had to use so much force the chrome flaked off from the metal twisting. Got the donut on and was ready to go.

Got to the shop I always use and they were able to take it directly in (normally I have to drop it off or wait an hour before a bay opens). They replaced and rebalanced both front tires and swapped the rim out on a rear and balanced everything. Took about an hour I guess, which was pretty speedy.

I was expecting to pay a bit for this work since I did not buy the tires from them and I was having a rim swapped as well. Total bill? $20!

I was finally happy....

Jeez...what an ordeal.

Stupid shop...who doesn't use a torque wrench? I'd be screaming at someone for that one. Times like that make me glad I can steal my dad's impact driver. Saves a lot of trouble.

I haven't had the best luck with tires this year either...I met some gravel/oil/sand on an onramp and ended up fouling up two wheel rims and doing some cosmetic damage to one tire...Then about two months ago I had a mishap in the snow (very low speed) that put that same tire straight-on into a curb, blowing it out completely. Fortunately, I was only half a block from home, so I pulled the A34 spare out, threw it on the J30, and put the blown J30 wheel/tire in the A34, and went off to the tire shop. Lucky I had a second car on hand...but it makes me wish I had two cars of my own again...I really hate only having one.

I ended up buying tires for the other three corners of the car as well, since they were about due anyway...

Guess I need to be more careful...I'm lucky I haven't lost a wheel.
