Google the virus and look for the directions. Some malware things are real sucky and hard to get rid of.

For defense, I use-AVG-Malware bytes-Ad-Aware...and I still get some crap through every once in a while. (always seemed to happen if I left Mininova.org open too long)

It's not going to be just an anti-virus program.

Probably going to need a rootkit, clean out your registry, and all that good stuff. You will probably get the pop ups still.

I just had one of these too. Mine was for a program called PC Security. I knew that something was wrong when it said that a new program was installed, and I hadn't installed anything. I just did a system restore to a few days before the virus (I couldn't even do anything else, it had slowed my PC down so much ) Then I downloaded Bit defender (best antivirus evar) and malware bytes. Problem solved.

The Malware defense prevented me from opening my downloaded anti virus program. I had to download the file under a different name, that didn't work. Then I had to download a separate filed and renamed it before I was able to install an anti virus program.

I actually was looking at the free Maxim free subscription page and I started to get pop ups all the sudden

So you didn't have any Anti-Virus software before sh*t hit the fan?

Or you couldn't get it DLed from some one elses PC and put it on a thumb drive?

Reformatting seems a little over the top and inconvenient.

Some viruses keep you from running or installing any anti-virus programs.

Then you have to go into Safe-mode and run it, you don't always have to reinstall cause it won't let you launch an anti-virus program.

Honestly I prefer to reformat my computers every now and then, its good to just start from scratch sometimes IMO.. I make sure to back up the important stuff like pictures, music, documents and such.I was running AVG Anti-Virus at the time. But something got through anyway and AVG wouldn't get rid of it, so I tried to d/l Macafee off Comcast's website and somehow the trojan was interfering with just that particular download. So I tried to download Malwarebytes, same thing happened

So, now my computer runs faster than ever, and not as much useless crap on my HD
