Third elevatated brake lights are a Federal Requirement and a delete mod that might void your vehicle insurance.

"In North America since 1986, in Australia since 1990, and in Europe since 1998, a central brake lamp, mounted higher than the vehicle's left and right brake lamps and called a Centre High Mount Stop Lamp (CHMSL), is also required. The CHMSL (pronounced IPA: /ˈtʃɪmzəl/) is also sometimes referred to as the centre brake lamp, the 3rd brake Lamp, the eye-level brake lamp, the safety brake lamp, or the high-level brake lamp. The CHMSL may produce light by means of a single central filament bulb, a row or cluster of filament bulbs or LEDs, or a strip of Neon tube."

I'm not sure if you have a spoiler installed but I did the same after installing my spoiler. I now have a 3rd and 4th brake light because when I disconnect the rear deck light the warning comes up. I brought it up in another post and a few said to put a resistor (?) of the same size as the bulb in the socket and stuffing it below the deck. (Can you tell that I don't know anything about electronics?) I haven't done anything yet but I think I'll end up doing the same but with good bulbs. If one of the bulbs burns out I'll be able to change it out from the trunk.

But orignally called CHMBL as it's application always indicated braking, but not necessarily stopping. Gotta dumb down to the common denominator.

Who cares about insurance if you don't have any? Oh yeah, your estate and the other guy in the accident.

I wonder if the T's had a different brake sensor? Might be worth checking with Joe or someone good at using FAST (Wes) look it up!

Brilliant! Come to think of it I've seen both pink and green sensors there. I'll swap the opposite color sensor (the one out of the 94t) in this weekend and see if I can unplug the brake light without the warning coming on. Thanks.

Of course there are differnt sensor as shown in FSM wiring since the current draw is different between the normal third lamps and the T spoiler lamps.

Wow. That was just rude. He could have called you a dummy and told you to search.

That's what I'd do.

What's FAST? The only FAST I know is Sprint's Field Activation Service Terminal. (I used to be a Sprint dealer.)

Dennis beats around the bush. You're a little more straight forward. Either way I was a dummy for not realizing the three different color brake sensors I had meant something. Problem was solved by putting in a sensor from a 94T (with spoiler).

At least it will be searchable now. I don't think we discussed it before. I would like to get a few sensors, so that if and when I ever get around to making my all LED taillight setup I can figure out how to modify the sensor to work with that... Of course I could just ground the output wire, but keeping that functionality with the LED taillights would just be cool. I assume there's one part in there that's different to deal with the lower current draw with the LED spoiler.

So I assume the three different ones are for:

90-93 - CHMBL90-93 - LED Spoiler94-96 - One bulb vs. two bulb socket?and maybe a 4th out there:94-96 LED Spoiler?

HK, FAST is the abreviation for Nissan's parts catalog look up. I don't remember exactly what it stands for. You can download it at http://www.phatg20.net if you have some time on your hands.

Two bulbs vs. one. Don't know if they are the same type, but they appear similar.

Yeah, I started to download them the other day and canceled it... just didn't have the time to deal with it at the moment. I have the software on a CD ROM somewhere, but couldn't find it.

I should also. I'll check and burn a couple if people want to cover postage.
