after i do my 5-speed swap, suspension stuff and maybe after turbo if im funded right, i got a creative idea i dont know if anyone thought of it but i was thinking it will be possible to modify the back seats push it back a little lean it at a certain degree and maybe deepin the seats a little i believe it can to modified to fit two people back there better giving a little more leg room and because its leaned back more it'll be more relaxing until i go sideways lol (bout to take welding classes after im done training at my job)

what yall think?

You plan on drifting with four people in the car? Trying to show off and murder a couple of your friends?

its not so much the leg room, its also the headroom and the distance between the sides. people sell these cars when the realize how much trouble it is to access a carseat, what makes you think a grown person will want to chill back there. its cool to dream and all, but this one is not going to happen. take the seat out and fiberglass a system if you are feeling creative.

Sold my 240, looking for a shell. Other then that. I think these cars only came with four seats to appeal to more then just your usual sports car fanatic.

Negative my friend...well maybe a little. but mostly the back seats are the to lower the insurance....The same reason 300's have a back seat/bench.

I love the fact that the car can't fit too many people in there. It gives me an excuse not to pack up my car full of cheap @ss friends. I also hate driving a car when it's loaded down too. If you want to be able to squeeze in friends, the 240 is the wrong car for you then.

If you get the back seat to lean back at all, think of how much more often your friends can bash their heads off of the rear glass. Yay!!

Can't be done. Physical limitations disallow it.

Pushing the seats further back eliminates more headroom.

Also, have you considered the chassis implications of such a modification? You are modifying the chassis rigidity in the rear, putting the passengers closer to a crumple zone. An impact in the rear with people in the back seats would be fatal. Your chassis will also flex more due to loss of structural integrity.

I don't blame you for wishful thinking, but this project isn't worth it. Abandon it now before you spend too much time on it or get someone killed.

I dont think it's a 240 considering the quarter panels and the seatbelts are on the opposite sides of the seats

That would be the back seat of an R35 GT-R. Which is a considerably longer wheelbase car with a unique roof line to accomodate rear seat passengers.

Really, I think the most elegant solution would be the Origin Lab FRP/CF rear seats. No padding means lower seating position. You need to know more Asians or midgets. They fit in the back perfectly.

The lack of imagination for you guys boggles me.

Ok so you want more room in the back seat. Rico05 kind of had the right idea. Custom fabricate the rear seats with higher density foam in the seat and backrest so that a thinner foam can be placed there. It will also add a bucketted seat effect. Also center them a little closer to the middle hump to allow more diagonal leg room or opposite so it's closer to the walls of the car. Also you can get some super low front seat rails so it makes the front passenger and driver sit straighter upright.

Voila! You have now created 3-5inches of freed up headroom and leg room. (With the sacrifice of comfort for the rear seats. Maybe some contour foam would help your *** a little.)

It's funny this topic should come up, I was just planning on doing this soon.

leg room sucks so bad in the back on s13's, if it's only 1 person at least you can sit sideways and stretch your legs out.

I think theres one thing people are forgetting. Where would you move them back? The backrests of the 240 are the rear strut towers. So if you moved those back what would you do with your suspension? Also, if you take your rear seats out and look, the seats where your butt goes is down, then it waves up for the trunk. You cant cut out that wave because under that is the lower subframe. That holds the diff and other fun things. There isnt any extra space on a 240 that you can cut out and not hinder something else. Also the hump between the feet in the back is where the driveshaft goes. Not to bash on your dreams but there simply is no room.
