does this ever happen to you? you'll be talking about how much you love nissans and some doofuss says nissans suck. i swear it happens to me all the time. they will say it all chill like and i say something back like "pushrods suck", and bang they are mad. i just love it. it just happened to me the other day. i figured if its happening this much, i better ask around. this guy that is an apprentice at my shop is an ex-marine right. he doesn't know squat about cars. so he is telling me all about how easy domestic cars are to work on and how hard it was to put this water pump on a b13. i told him domestics are a pain and showed him how to put the water pump on. he actually said i was full of crap. this is my assistant. they pay him $8.00 an hour to do work under my name(so i get paid the commission on the job) and learn how to do stuff from me. why would he argue his point with me? dunno. you guys don't care if i rant do you? another example of people doing weird stuff. people that i barely know will call me up and say something like the following example:

doofuss: so chris, you work on cars right?me: yeah, at a nissan dealership.doofuss: i been lookin at this '95 pontiac grand am. are they good?me: no, they suck.(then i tell them a gazillion reasons why)doofuss: well, it was really clean and my grandma had an old pontiac in the '60s. she said it was a good car. i think ill get it.me: alright.

oh yeah, that doofuss that is my apprentice...he just bought his first air tool. its a cheap piece of crap 1/2" impact wrench. he loves it so much that he does everything with it. i caught him the other day doing and oil change with it. not just taking the plug out mind you. he even put it back in with the darn thing. i told him not to do that and he argued with me. crazy huh? anyway. anything like that happen to you guys?

I'm an entry-level tech, but I would never do anything as stupid as that. A 1/2" impact installing a drain plug?!?! What a fu(king moron. I say can his *** right now. Considering he actually argued with you about it, he'll never learn. Guys like that should stick to busting tires or working at Jiffy Lube.

Man I must agree. Get rid of him. What was his position in the marines? It's people like that that make me want to do my own work, that and I am cheap.

Marines just aren't meant to be auto techs. He should get a job as a cop. Send him to Hickory NC. They only hire people just like that.

SOB wouldn't work under me, and screw up my reputation.

Cpl Scientist here to dispell all these stereotypes about marines. I mean look at me;

I'm well adjusted, well if people stay out of my face at least.

I work well with others, at laest as long as they don't bug me.

I'm smart, cept for that time I hit the tire with the rubber mallet and it bouced back into my forehead, or the time I was pulling a wrench towards me and the thing broke and clocked me in the head. Then there was that time I was taking out the plate in a throttlebody and it opened and I stabbed my hand with a screwdriver.

You know don't look at me after all. No really quit staring at me. :mad:

Hey man. Have some respect. Those fu*kin jarheads have the courage to standup & serve their country. Wether or not you agree with our current presidents foreign policy, those guys are over seas right now. They got shot at in afghanistan, shot at & died in iraq, peace keeping missions in bosnia, bases around the world away from their familys. They are braver than I.. and even if they are often a little whackedout, the deserve some respect.

Hey! He's probably the ******* who did the oil changes for the prior owner of my car. I almost ruptured something (in me, not the car) trying to get my damn drain plug out the first time I did my oil change. ;)
