Back near the beginning of the year I started to do a bit of a reconstruction on my VH41 S13 as a result of wanting to do a lot of things better and really clena things up. The car was never finished in the first place, but I didnt want to finish it with so many things that bothered me...

Well its been a busy year, but finally I am getting back to it and here is the start of my new intake manifold.

I am using 2 Y33 VH41 intake manifolds cut in half to make a symmetrical / \ shaped intake with a plenum box. I have some 1.5x2.375 oval tubing I am going to use for the runners and I am mounting a 1995 throttle on the front of the plenum.

The spare intake came from the motor I am using for mockup. Bit of oxidation from being under water for about week.... Got the motor dirt cheap though I think.... $300 including all the accessory brackets and coils and shipped to my shop.

The funky cuts on the runners are because the original lower manifold is all 1piece and I had to cut the runners apart side by side. Runners will be cut off near the bottom anyway to attach the oval runners. I just wanted to get an idea of the angles of the now symmetrical runners and how wide the plenum will have to be....

remember his US Vh41 is pretty different than your JDM VH41.

The intake ports on the USDM VH41DE differ in size and shape to the JDM VH41DE.

The way you have your runners there looks as though the air will hit a 120 degree bend upon entry into the head.

I'd be inclined to have the runners the other way around (facing outwards) to suit the port entry angle.

What I am using is 2 stock passenger side (right side of car) manifold halves. The runners line up perfectly internally.

Just the way the Y33 motors were designed I guess. The right side is exactly as it was from the factory, but the left side now has a straighter shot into the cylinders than the original setup because the original runners on the right side did a 180 from the plenum, and then ran low, and had to turn downward into the ports. This design is the straightest runner design possible on this motor.

Also, could someone let me know if the spider intake VH41's have the same port layout as the 'mustang' intake like mine?

Mine looks like this concerning the bolt patterns

I know all the VH45's have it like this:
