OK, I'm tired of driving around trying to guess how fast I'm going by looking at the tach. I have a factory HUD digital display, with the Skyline tach mounted in it. I need to make my digital speedo/HUD work.

Before anyone asks, I am NOT using the KA lower harness, I wired my car with the RB lower harness long before I knew the KA harness would have been easier. I know I need the KA speedo sensor, and I have that; I managed to source one from a junkyard. The thing is, how the HELL is it supposed to fit into the RB20 transmission?? The gear is like half an inch in diameter, while the hole for the sensor is a completely different style. How am I supposed to make this work?

And once I get the sensor into the trans, how should I go about running the sensor wires so that my speedo will read? Once again, I'm STUCK using the RB20 lower harness; anyone know how I can run the wires?

Did you get a doch or sohc KA speed sensor?

I know the SOHC fits like a glove, but I never tried the DOHC....they might be different.

once you get the thing mounted.....run lines fromt he 2 wires on the sensor to the 2 wires on the cluster.

DOHC also works in the 20 trans.

I have the SOHC sensor. I don't really see how it fits like a glove though....is there something else on the RB20 trans I have to remove besides the Skyline cable speedo sensor?

Not that I am aware of....are you sure you are working with the correct sensor?

If you can try and get the sensor from the sohc and match it up with the rb I think the depth that it should go in needs to be the same for it to work. If not what about getting a dohc speed sensor and using the sohc plug?

I looked at DOHC and SOHC speed sensors and they look exactly the same.

I'm sure I pulled out the speed sensor, it has a big gear on the end that is *MUCH* larger in diameter than the hole on the back of the RB transmission.

Well I have the sensor in, does anyone know what color the wires are that come from the back of the speedo on the gauge cluster? I don't want to take the entire dash apart if I can help it, I'd rather find the wires where they run through the firewall into the engine bay area and splice them in there...

There is a grey plug between the fusebox & engine that houses the 2 wires that feed to the dash....cant remember which ones exactly they are, but youonly need 2 of the 8.
