That would be because it's the page on torque, not the page on work. Do you seriously not know that W=Fd? Have you taken a physics class? That page only explains that work doesn't necessarily need to traverse a distance, such as in the case of torque. This one will explain what work IS:

Though, that page actually gives the full-on proper calculus-enhanced definition of work, I imagine you get the idea.

Work (abbreviated W) is the energy transferred by a force to a moving object. Work is a scalar quantity, but it can be positive or negative. It is associated with a change in energy, but not all changes in energy can be readily analysed in terms of work.
