Ok here is the deal. My SR20DET is in the car and is almost ready to run BUT the motor has a 6 wire TPS sensor on it and for those of you that don't know that means the motor was from an SR20DET that used to be an automatic. Granted it is a 5 speed now with a 5 speed ECU and wiring harness and everything I still need a solution here. The plug on the engine wiring harness is the 3 wire 5 speed plug that is meant to plug into the 3 wire 5 speed TPS. What I'm wondering is if it's possible to make it work by cutting 3 of the extra wires that might not be needed or do I just need to buy a whole new 5 speed TPS? This is the only thing keeping the car from running so any help is greatly appreciated!

Get a manual TPS, then cut the two wires that colors dont correspond and splice the red and green wires together to meet where the green wire with red stripe would be. I think those are the colors at least.

First off to clarify something is a manual TPS 6 wires or 3 wires? The engine harness plug that goes to the TPS sensor is 3 wires so I assume if I were to get a 3 wire TPS sensor it would just plug right in.

Right now I have te 6 wire TPS sensor so it won't plug in. Hence I was asking which wires to cut to make it work.

The manual is a three wire. Either the engine was an auto or somebody put on an auto throttle body/tps.

you only need the black, white, and light green/red wires for the TPS to work.

Alright I just did some wiring and I connected the green and red wires together, the black wire to the black, and the white to the white. Car starts up and seems to run fine now so I'm guessing I must have done it right. This will be a short term solution until I can find a manual TPS. I am guessing that the motor was from an auto since it looks like the throttle body has never been removed.

Yeah, I had to deal with the auto TPS problem on my first SR 5 years ago.
