Hey All,

New here, but have a couple of questions. Firstly I have searched this topic to death and have not really come across any good conclusions - so sorry for asking!

What upgrades would it take to get a KA24E in an '89 240 to the 15.0 sec for the 1/4? I am planning on keeping the KA and not doing a swap!

Presently I am looking at:I - (ingen)H- (Hotshot)E -(to be determined)!

What type of improvement would that bring? Any ides?

Thanks,

Not very much :)

From what i can see from all my reading, much better off droppin in an sr engine, or turbo what ya got.

I got the intake done on my 89, the exhaust will be done too ONLY because the one thats there leaks like a mofo.

you didnt specify if you want to stay N/A or not..?

you could turbo what you got, they sell a few different kits (IAP,Nsport, WDs when it comes out, real nissan) or you could piece your own together from other cars.

If no turbo, you could do head work, I/H/E, high compression pistons, strip the inside of your car, LSD, better clutch, the list keeps going, Im a firm believer that you could have a high 14 - low 15 second car with a N/A SOHC. but you wont keep up with boost thats for sure.

I am planning to stay N/A. If I do decide to turbo, I will go for an engine swap.

You think all that for low 15's (head work, I/H/E, high compression pistons, strip the inside of your car, LSD, better clutch)

you gotta think, your car is 14 years old, the bottom end needs to be rebuilt anyway

depends on how well you can drive it. you might be able to get into mid - high 14s with all the work above + good driver. but theres more work can be done from what ive listed. you could always get lightweight pulleys, flywheel, driveshaft, electrical fan. take things out of your engine bay that you dont really need for racing.

Well, as a fellow 89 KA24E owner here's what I have done, and would reccomend doing, as long as your mechanically inclined.1. On a free weekend, remove your intake manifold, exhaust manifold, upper intake collector, and throttle body. And port the hell out of each one.2. Well doing above said stuff, remove the secondary butterflys from your intake manifold.3. Remove anything form the engine bay you dont need. You might be surprised how much all that suff weighs. I took my A/C system out, and was surprised how much the compressor and bracket weighed. A good ratio to keep in mind is removing 10lbs, is about the equivalent of gaining 1hp.4. Take you belt driven fan off and put an electric one on.5. Get a MAS adapter and cone filter. If you have the money to spend, Injen makes a intake for the KA24E. The link is here,http://www.optauto.com/webstor...=1283

Thats all I have done now. I'll update anything else I do as I progress.Ryan
