I was wondering the fesability of making the 240 into an AWD car. Then you would have the ultimate car, handling and looks. Unlike the WRX... great performance but crappy look.... even though the new 2003 STI looks nice, still not sporty enough.. For some reason I think someone said that unstable-hybrids can make your 240 to awd...

Anything is possible. But it will probably be very expensive and require a lot of custom mods. It would be a great opportunity to convert the 240 to a double wishbone front set-up since you will need to relocate the strut to make room for the axle anyways. Using a AWD RB or the GTI-R's SR may be the best Nissan motor options.

Too much money to make it worthwhile, if you would like to spend about 20,000 dollars I"ll build you an AWD powered RB26DETT. I chatted with a guy who said it was do able, but thus far he's the only one out of about a dozen sources who've said its just not worth it. Plus, then you have all of the additional weight of the AWD and the car is no longer drift-friendly. Why bother taking one of the few RWD imports to make it AWD? Just go buy an Eclipse GSX, Talon TSI, or Celica All-Trac.

I'm sure almost anything is possible with the $$$. It would be a nice drag car. I'm sure you could get some major power out of the RB and with AWD. It'll be a crazy sleeper.

IF you can put it on a diet. The minimal additional traction gained from AWD wouldn't make up for the extra weight you'd add.

K_Car has it right, get an S4. Then, buy an RS4 engine, put that in, buy a center diff that's worth a damn (torsen center diff doesn't work well in high horsepower applications), and then buy some upgrades for the engine. IIRC Dahlback or someone else makes a 625 hp kit for the RS4 engine =) Yes, Audi is the way to go =)

 i love the all-trac! that was mean! (the S4 is undoubtably sweet i agree)and your avatar is terrifying to me K-Car!!

i do agree, however, that the 240 is one of the few rwd imports left, why ruin it with a backyard hack-job. i'd much rather buy a all-trac, or better yet, and Impulse RS turbo ...i think they are awd too. perfect winter car for me!!

'left' as in that there aren't many new rwd japanese sports cars anymore, except for the new 350z, s2000 and what-not.

Just buy an S4. AWD, German engineering, 5.4s 0-60, sub-15 quarter mile right out of the box. Make Corvettes look stupid in the rain.

And walk out of your house one day to find it missing. In Jersey, you really can't own one, unless you have a garage/valet to park and watch it. But that is just in Jersey.

My friend's S4 was stolen twice. The first time he got it back it had no interior (3k), and a blown water pump (God only knows the beating that car took). The second time it was stolen from a different spot and was not found.

A guy I was talking to at an Audi dealership told my friend specifically NOT to by an S4. His was stolen, along with two of his friends.

So go for a Celica All-Trac, no one wants to steal one of those.

Oh, anyway, http://www.unstablehybrids.com They will build you an AWD RB powered 240, for something like 15 or 18k...well worth it:rolleyes .

Thanks for the input. I know it is designed for drift and I love it for that... but I was talking about the look. There aren't any sleak sports car looking AWD except for the lamborgini fastest AWD car (correct me if I am wrong). So that is where the idea cam to make it LOOK good.

Of course the AUDI is the bomb... and then if you got an RS engine.. dammmmmmm...

Lets just hope that the G35 (new skyline) comes with a AWD/TT package in the furture....... so it would truely be a skyline... Therefore looks and power..

How in the world does an AWD vehicle look different??? It has to do with the drivetrain, not with the look of the car!!!Moron, maybe you should head over to http://www.clubsi.com and join them. You low-life rice wannabe!!!

I don't think he is saying that making a 240sx AWD is going to make it look good. He is saying he wants an AWD that looks good...hence why he's wanting to do it to a 240sx. He gave an example of the WRX not looking as sleek.. :\

It's not particularly my choice to live in Jersey (I really don't know who would "choose" to live in New Jersey), its a monetary issue (I have none...live with my parents). But I guess you are right, you have to expect the worst s*it to happen to you here.

The kid had a garage, it was stolen in other places. There was a kid I knew from my school who had a brand new Civic SI that was turbocharged. He went into Fudrucker's for literally 15 mins, and when he came out, the car was gone...Found it stripped and burnt a week later. The person was apparently following him around.

I wouldn't want to buy an S4 then have to make it look like an A4 (well I wouldn't but either anyway, see first parantheses).

I'd take Jersey over Rhode Island though...

If I ever get a yearning for AWD.... I'll be buying a 1g Talon TSI. Good looks, great handling, hella quick. DSM powa.

I wouldn't bother having a 240 converted to AWD. Lightweight RWD is too much fun. :D

I dunno, new wheels, new bumper, taking off the sideskirts (IIRC the A4s just have nothing but black trim there), and debadging (would do it anyway) seems like an aweful lot of work to make an all ready pretty car kinda ugly =) Plus I'm not sure if the two intercoolers would clear an A4 bumper....

I think we are all forgetting about the greatest all wheel drive import.

Mazda 323 GLX. Turbo, AWD and cheap.:D
