Today i was looking at making my own intake so i looked at what hoses were going to have to be fitted for on the new intake...i noticed that there was a tube going from the stock air box towards the back of the car to a little black box. I took off the hose to see if the car would still run and its running fine and seems to be running better actually. I was just wondering what this hose and black box are. Thanks.

AIV. if you unplug it, make sure you cap the hole on the intake box, and put a breather on the tube.

he pumps air into your catalytic converter during warmup to get the cat hotter quicker, it's pretty useless after the car has warmed up, i removed mine. theres a sticky at the top of the forum about the aiv you should check it out
