I was just wondering what you guys think of this, if its even really possible to do. I am a former mechanic of 5 years and have done a sr swap, and worked on my sr for 3 years. Would it be possible to maybe make some cash by buying a blown up 240 and swapping in an sr, basic mods, selling it, and repeat this process? or would it pretty much be breaking even, loosing money, or minimal profit? just want some opinions

At this point in time, most 240 drivers are too cheap and broke to spend that kind of money. Just look at the prices of SR equipped 240's go these days. It'd be nice if people appreciate the value of these cars more.

What are you talking about -- I can not speak for s13s but s14s have been know to sell for 10-17 grand with the POS KA still in them in the east and west coast. I do not know what you could sell them for. Would probably have better luck with the s14s since there are fewer of them and they have more modern features....

I have not seen them go for that high, but I believe you. The cost of 240s has been steadily rising. As far as making a business around swapping in sr20dets. I dont know how great of a business plan that would be.here are some pros;1) you get to play with SR's and 240s2) you get to charge for your time3) you eventually are your own bosscons;1) You are playing with other peoples money and it never fails they will not pay you, or they wont pay you on time. Cashflow is key to a good business plan and SR swaps are not that large in volume due to the high cost of entry(initial cost)2) Clients are more than likely going to blow up their SR's so your service contract has to be ironclad.3) you will evenutally have to run a legit business and pay taxes and diversify in order to keep your cashflow up.4) Though I encourage you to follow your gut, make sure its backed up with a solid business plan and some seed money.Best of luck

I was mainly just thinkin of building cars and doin swaps on the side for some extra cash since there really isnt any shops that do that kind of work in my area, and I can think of some people that would pay 6 or 7 grand for a s13 sr 240, so my thing would be trying to get the complete build down to no more than 5 grand, 1000-2000 profit for less than a months worth of work on the side is some good extra cash.

What I've seen private sellers selling 240 with avg SR20 go for:S13 w/SR = avg of 4-5KS14 Zenki w/Sr = avg 7-8kS14 Kouki w/SR = avg 10-11k

There's been some flawlessly done up 240 that looks like it's been crafted by the hands of God himself go for 20k plus, but most 240 enthusiast don't have that kind of money to spend. That's why most people on here drive a 240. I can almost guarantee if half of the 240 drivers on here was stacked with cash, they wouldn't be driving a 240.

OP, if there's enough of a demand around your area then go for it. There are lots of other people making a living doing what you're talking about right now. I don't think it'll make you rich, but if there's enough of a demand around there, then why not?

Meh. You can make some decent extra cash, but you have to be swapping cheap motors into equally cheap cars to swing it.

There's just a lot of headaches when you try to make money off selling swapped cars. The best advice I can give you is to make sure you have a well stocked garage to get little parts from, or else you'll go nuts trying to track down every little nut. bolt, and clamp. Also, the most cost effective way is motor sets, and be prepared to get incomplete sets or sets with busted electronics.
