Ok So I have a 2000 infiniti qx4. And I just purchased it from a guy that had 24 inch rims on it. He has blocks in the back and had welded the spring to the top of the strut on the front. And cut the place for the strut to sit on the front. So I put new struts wheel bearings tie rod ends and ball joints on the whole front. I am afraid he may of cut the coil spring to. And I can't find them anywhere is there anyway you guys could tell me the normal length for the struts. The main problem I'm having is when I turn the coil spring rubs on the top on the strut mount. I put them in the same way they came out. But You never know becuase the guy obviously had them out before. So if you guys could get me a pic of the strut with the bushing on it so i can see how they went on. I'm thinking somethings missing all together or somethings broke. Please help i'm 19 with 2 kids and this is our only car as my wifes car just got totaled.

Sounds like the geometry has certainly been altered, if the springs are not original but were in the vehicle see if you can install them loosely and rotate in the bottom holder until the start of the spring meets the holder at the beginning.

Did you need the use of a compression tool to dismantle the springs?

Can you measure the relaxed spring?

The top spring is housed within the top plate.

No I didn't need a spring compressor at all. And the top went together really funny. The guy just rigged it basically I guess it's time for a junk yard.
